Roman was the best ski coach I’ve ever had and is an incredible human. We talked technique for hours and on the mountain I always felt safe, even on the icy days. He was so proud of his grandchildren and always had us stop to see how great they were skiing. He was funny, kind and pushed us to always be the best version of ourselves.

Roman was our first friend who we met in America. He showed us an amazing support and always gave us good advice when needed. He was also very intelligent, interesting storyteller and we have many fond memories of precious moments spent together with him and Alona in Hunter and at their home in Brooklyn.

He's welcomed me into his home since I was a little girl.
And always accepted me at his table, sharing what he had.
I thank him for that. And I remember him as a humble, upright man who loved to laugh, sharing his advice as much as his humor.

Roman alway said "everyone is welcome to ski with me". His heart was open to people. And our hearts go out to him. Roman was admired by many people not just as a great skier, but as a great person.

This is so sad. Roman was one of the good guys. Always great to see him at the beginning of each ski season, grab a hug and realize how long we have all been together on this journey called call teaching. R.I.P. Roman.
