My Uncle Uwe and Aunt Ruth, Susan and Christa are an important part of my childhood family. Some of my favorite childhood memories always seem to revolve around Uncle Uwe. His great contagious laugh would always make everyone smile . His joy of life had a gravitational pull on the human spirit that made me want to run to him when he arrived at my parents home for a visit. He was a great story teller and I loved when he spoke about his German childhood . He made me proud of my own German heritage. My Uncle Uwe taught me how to weld when I was 10 years old and it is a skill that I still use today . I have fond memories of going to the Masonic festival in Tappan , NY and meeting Uncle Uwe and Aunt Ruth there for a very special time. I cherish these childhood memories of German music and dancing , Bratwurst and pretzels. I was too young to enjoy the beer but years later I always think of my Uncle, my Aunt and the memory of my own parents when I attend an Octoberfest celebration. I will miss his laugh. I will miss his great mustache. I will miss the wonderful man I got to call Uncle Uwe. May he rest in peace and be reunited with his beautiful wife for all eternity.
