Obituary of Thomas Gary Benjamin
Thomas Gary Benjamin of East Jewett went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2024. Tommy was born to Audrey and Francis “Skip” Benjamin on March 14, 1978. Tommy was an inspiration to all who had the great pleasure to know him.
Tommy could always be found with a smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His trusty service dogs Ambrose & Kiana were his world. He loved going on cruises and taking his “LandShark” to Jimmy Buffett concerts. Tommy also enjoyed spending time at home in East Jewett relaxing where he could often be found taking a nap by the fireplace.
Growing up he was an active 3rd generation member of the East Jewett Fire Department & Rescue Squad serving as an EMT and CPR instructor. He was an active member of The Red Knights of New York Chapter 12. His community service continued throughout his life through The Boy Scouts of America. Tommy earned his Eagle Scout in 1996 and continued his service on the Board of The Rip Van Winkle Council of Boy Scouts. He was a 1996 graduate of Hunter-Tannersville CSD where he went on to pursue his law degree from Albany Law School. His family is very proud of his career accomplishments working as an Associate Attorney for the New York State Workers Compensation Board, Legal Hearings Unit.
Thomas is survived by his mother Audrey Benjamin and sister Michelle (Paul) Bychowsky. He is predeceased by his faithful service dogs Ambrose & Kiana, his father Francis “Skip” Benjamin and his grandparents.
