Obituary of Graceanne Rose Booth

Graceanne Rose Booth, 71, of Durham, NY, passed away on the morning of February 23rd, 2024. While Grace endured increasing health issues for the past several months, her passing was still unexpected for her family, who fervently hoped for more time with her.

Grace is survived by her loving children Colin and Kiana, her brother John D. Euchler and his wife Barbara Malkas, her niece and nephew, her beloved dog River, and her many friends and loved ones.

Grace was born on May 17th, 1952 to Anne and John W. Euchler, and immediately made the world a brighter place because she was in it. From ballet to nursing school, Grace was fearless in pursuing her passions and the things she loved most, no matter the obstacles. At a time when society and tradition dictated so much of what a young woman could do with her life, Grace made her own rules, and colored outside the lines to create a life full of color and joy.

Whether through her work as a Psychiatric Nurse, an Equine Therapeutic Riding Instructor, or even the simple act of striking up a conversation in the grocery store, Grace brought warmth and compassion to every interaction she had with others. She shared her vibrancy and light with those around her, and was adored no matter where she went. She bewitched everyone she met with her big heart, sharp wit, infectious smile, and unerring ability to find humor in all things.

Grace was an incredible mother, who provided unconditional love and support to her children throughout her life. Not only was she a remarkable role model, but she was also an amazing teacher, who taught them the value of empathy and generosity, how to always see the beauty in the world, and that she was right about everything (which she was).

Grace found joy in connecting with the natural world in so many different ways. She loved to ride horses, tend to her garden, read, and collect stray animals in every home she lived in. She was a country music fan no matter her family’s objections, and was convinced that her animals loved it just as much as she did, when maybe they just loved her.

Grace lived a life rich in love, resilience, and vibrant color. Her passing has left a deep wound in those who knew and loved her, and the world is a little less colorful and bright in her absence.

Her family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make contributions to Littlebrook Farm horse sanctuary in Grace’s honor in lieu of flowers, and contribute to sharing memories of Grace on her memorial website or in person at her memorial service.

Grace’s memorial will be held at Decker Funeral Home in Windham, NY, a town dear to her heart where she spent numerous summers with her beloved grandmother and namesake.

We invite anyone who knew Grace to attend.
