Obituary of Arita Jaeger Demarco
Arita Jaeger DeMarco, 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 8 after a short battle with cancer. Arita was born on February 18,1935 to Jessie Bound and Arnold Conklin Sr in Roxbury, NY. She grew up in Grand Gorge and was employed in food service most of her life, mainly at the Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl from 1965 to 1995. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.
Arita was predeceased by her husband Walter Jaeger Sr in 1981. They enjoyed dancing at the Westkill Community Center and all area fireman dances. They were married in 1951. Arita and Walter bought and ran the family dairy farm in Little Westkill where all their children were raise before moving to Jewett. She is survived by her children Diana Potter, Wanita Marquit (Tom), Walter Jaeger Jr (Fran), and Shawn Jaeger (Fawn). Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren & expecting a baby girl in May.
She was also predeceased by her second husband Raymond DeMarco with whom she traveled and went on many cruises with. Also predeceased by her son-in-law Arnold Potter, sisters Doris Kasmer, Janet Austin, and brother Arnold Conklin Jr.
She is also survived by her sisters Regina Conklin and Kay VanValkenburgh (Daryl) and families. Also the DeMarco families and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday November 11 at 12:00 noon at Decker Funeral Home, Windham with a funeral to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Prattsville Cemetery. Refreshments to follow.
