Obituary of Peter J. Schreiber

Peter Josef Schreiber of Jewett, New York passed on June 5th at home in peace in the arms of his family and loved ones. Peter was 81 years old  

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jessika Schreiber; and their six children, Peter Schreiber Jr, Johannes Schreiber, Antonia Schreiber, Cordelia Schreiber Krazit, John Paul Schreiber and Sebastian Schreiber; and his Grand Children Cesaré Schreiber Brower and Emma McArdle Schreiber.

Peter was born in Szeged, Hungary on May 27th, 1942 to his loving parents Peter and Ana Schreiber. Peter began his apprenticeship as a Jeweler at 14 years old in Germany. He served two terms in the German Airforce as a weapons specialist. After emigrating to the United States in 1972 he moved to New York City where he celebrated a lifelong career working for De Beers, Charles Krypell, David Webb, Verdura, Cartier, Harry Winston, and Tiffany&Co, Peter was a celebrated colleague and designer with over 65 years as a Master Jeweler. In retirement he went on to be a supporting partner with his Wife, and their Daughter, Cordelia to open Ze Windham Wine Bar, where many great memories were made in his most recent years. 

His greatest love was his family which he and Jessika chose to raise in the Catskill Mountains. He leaves behind a legacy of love, art, creativity, and procrastination. 

His life will be celebrated with a funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Theresa of the child Jesus in Windham, New York.
