Obituary of Ida Evelyn Schermerhorn

Ida (Post) Schermerhorn of Prattsville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on May 30, 2023 with her family by her side. Born in Prattsville on December 4th, 1930 to Amos and Anna Post. She met the love of her life Kenneth Schermerhorn (who predeceased her in 2015) at a service station on main street Prattsville, where he worked. They were married on March 25th, 1950. They had two daughters. Alveda (Joseph Mattice Sr) of Prattsville, and Diane (Dennis) Muthig of Grand Gorge. 

Ida had four grandchildren, Joseph (Roxanne) Mattice Jr. of Prattsville, Janice (Greg) Cross of Prattsville, Joao (Lynda) Paes of Prattsville and Micheal (Julie) Paes of Grand Gorge. She had seven great grandchildren, Cody (Emma) Mattice of Grand Gorge, Kyle (Emily) Mattice of Prattsville, Destiny (Steven) Gula of Texas, Brittany Paes (predeceased), Josh (Denise) Paes of Hunter, Kaetlin and Brandan Cross of Prattsville. She also had five great great grandchildren. Mia and Lillian Mattice, Axel Paes, Steven and Isabella Gula. 

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 on Monday, June 5th at Fairlawn Cemetery in Prattsville. The family would also like to thank hospice for their care in her final hours.
