Obituary of Thomas A. Bristol

Thomas A. Bristol. Jr., at the age of 99, passed peacefully to his heavenly home on May 4,2023 at his home in Windham, NY surrounded by his family. Mr. Bristol lived most of his life in Fair Lawn, N J, where he operated his electrical business, Bee Electric. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Edna (nee Evenstad) and his son Thomas “Tabby” Bristol III. He is survived by his children; Lynn Verrengia, Elizabeth Wajts, Debra Bottomley, June Bristol and Tommi Sue McCourt, their spouses, 14 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Upon the outbreak of WWII, he enlisted into the U.S. Army at the age of 17, where he was a member of the US Army Air Corp as a tail gunner on a B–25 bomber in the Pacific theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal, completing 54 combat missions in the China-Burma-India theater of operations with the First Air Commandos, 490th Bomb Group, known as the Burma Bridge Busters.

Upon returning from his service to our country, he operated Bee Electric - NJ License #144 - for over 70 years. He was a life member of the VFW for over 79 years. Mr. Bristol moved to Windham, NY in 2015 where he semi-retired.

Calling hours will be on Thursday May 11 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Decker Funeral Home, Route 23, Windham, NY.  The burial will be at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, NJ on Friday May 12 at 12:30 PM
