Obituary of Marion Quick
Marion Quick of The Eliot in Catskill, formerly of County Route 10 in Windham, found eternal peace on February 24, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born August 15, 1946 to the late Edmund and Johanna Schimmrich.
Marion married Murrel “Moe” Quick in December 1965 and they resided in Cottekill. She would often tell stories of their life together, raising their son, tending the animals, and her work as a much-loved custodian at Rosendale Elementary School where she worked for 20 years.
After Moe’s passing in 2003 she met her companion Burdette “Burt” Dewell and moved to Windham where she helped him with his honey business. She took great pride in Burt’s Mountain Honey and continued tending bees and making honey after his passing in 2013.
She loved her life “on the hill” with her pets BG, Angel, and Bud Bud until due to declining health she moved to The Eliot in November of 2022.
Marion will be loved forever by her son; Fred (Janet Rose) Quick and Jaidyn Rose of Middleburgh, her siblings; Henry (Lorna) Schimmrich of High Falls and Max Schimmirch of Tillson; Moe’s children; Donald Quick, John Quick, and Muriel Wolven, Burt’s children; Nancy Partridge, Cindy Foda, Bonnie Garden, Wayne Dewell and their families.
In addition to Moe and Burt she was predeceased by her sister Ruth McCarthy of New Paltz.
Following Marion’s wishes there will be no formal services.
The family asks that those who wish to honor her memory donate in her name to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Rd, Hudson, NY 12534 a place she held near and dear to her heart.
The Decker Funeral Home in Windham, NY serves the mountain top area with Care, Concern and Respect.
The funeral home is not only a business; it’s a family, the Gulino family.
