Obituary of Catherine Nichols
The most beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Catherine Nichols, passed away on November 22, 2022, at 94 years old at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, in Rockleigh NY. She was born in the Bronx and grew up an original bobby soxer swooning over Frank Sinatra, spending many an afternoon at Yankee Stadium rooting for Joe DiMaggio and her beloved Yankees, and going almost daily to the movies to watch her favorite stars of the big screen. Known by all as Kay, she grew up in the heart of the Greek Community helping the parents she adored, George Cavricas and Helen Chamberas Cavricas, with charitable work for the Greek Orthodox Church and Greek clubs and organizations along with her cherished brother George Cavrich and her dear cousin Nick Psarakos. She married the love of her life, Gerald Nichols, and raised 3 daughters Kathy, Chrysa, and Helen, (The Nichols Girls) who were the center of her world. She was so happy to have the love and friendship of her son-in-laws Dave Oroszi, Sammy Torres, and Jimmy Harrington and extended son and daughter in-law Carlos and Alicia Harrington. Her greatest happiness was doting on her grandchildren, Christian, Matthew, Jason, Jessie, Jeremy, and Michael, and she got to do a little bit of the same with her great-grandchildren Tommy, Tieyn, Allie, Emma, Tyler, and Jerry. She filled all our lives with unwavering love and devotion, and endless fun. Her only regret is she never won that elusive lottery!
