Obituary of Eva M. Irwin

Eva May Truesdell-Irwin, 91 of Prattsville, New York passed away peacefully in her sleep at her family home where she was born and raised a family of her own, surrounded by family members early on the morning of Friday, August 5th, 2022.

Calling hours will be held at Decker Funeral Home, 5312 Main Street, Windham, NY on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 2:00-3:00 pm with a brief service following with Pastor Dewitt Olmstead officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:30am at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY. Decker Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Eva was born on February 1st, 1931. She was the 7th and youngest child of Sylvia Alice Morris Truesdell-Nichols and Stephen Wright Truesdell. Eva began rural school in Little Westkill and then attended and graduated from Grand Gorge Central School with a regents diploma and met her husband of 63 years Master Sergeant Donald Leroy Irwin when she was in school.

Eva enjoyed traveling, going on daily rides and her weekly routine to the hair salon, and going out for meals. She loved watching Donald play the guitar for the Del-Se-Nango Olde Tyme Fiddlers, Hilton Kelly, and his Sidekicks, as well as when he played with family and friends. To all that knew her or just met her in passing, they would describe her as a kind, loving and caring woman with a huge heart who welcomed anyone into her home and would make them feel just like family. She enjoyed great conversations over a cup of tea or coffee and cooking up a meal or dessert for anyone who stopped by.

Eva is survived by her loving children Jane Bemis, Balston Spa, NY, Laurel Irwin (James Huggins), West Kill, NY, Tammy Shea (John Shea) of Harrisburg, PA and David Irwin (Dorothy Macken) Prattsville, NY, including 16 grandchildren and their significant others, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and too many friends to number.

Eva was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Master Sergeant Donald Leroy Irwin, parents Sylvia Alice Morris Truesdell-Nichols and Stephen Wright Truesdell, brothers Robert Truesdell, James Truesdell, David Truesdell, George Truesdell, Wright, Jr. Truesdell and sister Corinna Truesdell-Peckham.

In lieu of flowers, a gofundme https://gofund.me/c7fa3c39 has been setup on behalf of the family to cover funeral expenses or check/cash can be sent to: Laurel Irwin - 3327 Route 42, West Kill NY 12492.
