Obituary of Elaine Rose Poehmel
ELAINE “LINDA” ROSE (HOYT) POEHMEL, 78, of Hensonville, NY passed away April 10, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Linda was born in Prattsville, NY on May 7, 1943, to the late Harry Hartford and Helen Rose (Whipple) Hoyt. She was the beloved wife to her husband John James Poehmel Sr. who pre-deceased her in 2018.
Elaine “Linda” (Hoyt) Poehmel is survived by her beloved daughter Frances Ann (John) Becker of Cairo, NY & son John James (Bonnie) Poehmel Jr. of Hensonville, NY. Treasured by her grandchildren, John Andrew (Erika) Becker, Emily Rose (Charlie) Tolmie, and Rachel Elizabeth (Chase) Ward. Linda had a special twinkle in her eye for her two great-grand babies, Gerhardt Witt Becker, and Grace Elizabeth Tolmie.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sisters Noreene (Craig) Delong, Frances Kiefer, Carol Macintosh, brother Duane (Bunny) Wagenbaugh, and her favorite first cousin, Richard “Dale” Hoyt Sr. She is also survived by her brother-in-law William Poehmel Sr, sister-in-laws Carol Schiefer, Sally Saracino, & Edith Nickels and many loving nieces, nephews, & cousins. Linda was predeceased by siblings, Harry Jr., Allen, Mildred, Barney, Kate, Arnold, Norma, and Crocket.
Linda was an active member of the Windham-Hensonville United Methodist Church. She loved flowers of every color, especially roses, and she was an avid collector of elephants.
As per Linda’s wishes no viewing is planned. The interment of her ashes, along with her husband’s will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Ashland, NY. A Celebration of Life will follow. The date and time of this event will be announced by her family.
