Obituary of Nellie Mae Langston
Nellie Mae Langston went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones on December 4, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born to Evelyn (Barley) and William P. Short on April 29, 1941 in Highmount, NY. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Benjamin & Willy, and her sister Evelyn Hultz. She is survived by her six children; Virginia Kratochvil, Debra Maynard, Billy Carr Jr., Catherine (Troy) Aplin, Karen (Gene) Coe, and Rebecca (Martin) Gallagher, as well as the father of her children Bill Carr Sr., thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and those she loved as one of her own. She is also survived by her two sisters Dawnie Leonard, Leona Schultz, and her best friend and sister in law Ginny Short.
She enjoyed spending her days gardening, baking, taking family vacations with her daughters and grandchildren, bird watching, attending her grandchildren’s sports games and school concerts, painting, exploring lighthouses, and walking along the beachcollecting shells. She was an avid animal lover and held a special place in her heart for her little Chihuahua Gigi.
Nellie was a loving and devoted mother, nana, aunt, sister and friend. Some her happiest days were spent being surrounded by her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who love her.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, December 18th from 10am-12 pm at Decker’s funeral home in Windham with a memorial service following at the Ashland Methodist Church at 2pm.
