Obituary of Celeste Lynne Larsen
During a winter snowstorm on January 5th, 1985 Celeste Lynne Larsen was born before her parents, Gordon and Wendy Larsen, could get to the hospital in Catskill, New York. Because of the terrible driving conditions, Celeste was actually born in the car!
Growing up in Windham as the seventh child of eight siblings meant never a dull moment during childhood. After skipping a grade level, Celeste graduated from Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School as salutatorian of her class in 2002. With high school behind her, Celeste went on to complete two years of college, worked for the USPS for a time, and then met her life-long best friend, Shawn Longe.
Anyone who knew Celeste was familiar with her easy-going personality. She was always sharing memories and laughing, “tee hee” being one of her favorite phrases. Celeste loved music, her dogs (Nala and Adonis), good food, coffee, walks, shopping, driving, and sleeping.
Celeste passed away suddenly at her home in Petersburg, NY on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at the age of 36. She is the first of her siblings to pass away, leaving behind Deborah (Andrew) Feldman and children (David, Jessica); Keith Larsen and son (Justin), David (Mara) Larsen and children (Avery, Elizabeth); Danielle Larsen; Melissa Larsen and children (Skylen, Jacey, Zoey, Parker); Lisa Larsen; Vanessa (Neale) Minarik and children (Brooks, Briana, Hailey); two dogs, Georgia and Diego; her mother, Wendy Larsen; numerous cousins, and extended family members. Celeste’s father was the only immediate family member to complete his life on earth before she did.
