Obituary of Michael Roger Van Etten

VANETTEN, MICHAEL ROGER (52) Leeds NY.

Received his wings at home on July 25, 2021. He was the son of the late Roger VanEtten and Anna (Meier) VanEtten. Born in Catskill NY on July 17, 1969. We all lost a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend way to soon.

Michael grew up in Maplecrest and attended WAJ. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, boating and four wheeling.

He is survived by his mother, Anna VanEtten, his wife, Gail (Millet) VanEtten of Leeds; one daughter, Megan (Ben) Smith of Lanesville NY; Two sisters, Debra (Larry) Sherman of Middleburgh NY and Bonnie Bentley, Maplecrest NY; Also two grandsons, Zachary and Ryan Smith of Lanesville NY and step-grandsons Alex Cook and Connor Hillicoss.

Survived by nephews and nieces: Kyle (Kim) Bentley of Hunter NY, Christopher (Samantha) Sherman of Howes Caves NY, Amanda (Steve) Jones of Tannersville NY, Kaitlyn Sherman of Middleburgh NY, and Matthew (Sara) Bentley of Maplecrest NY.

Also survived by aunts/uncles:  Patricia Baresel of Mesa AZ, Albert (Louise) VanEtten of North Lexington NY, Mary (Dennis) Brockway of Hobart NY, Nancy Olson of Prattsville NY, Donald VanEtten of West Shokan NY, David VanEtten of Hunter NY, the late Maria (Meier) Thompson and Walter Thompson of Windham, and Betty Todd of Hillsdale NY. Also survived by many cousins and friends..

By Michael’s wishes there will be no viewing hours. Burial services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 the Fairlawn Cemetery in Prattsville NY.
