Obituary of Elly Lucas
On November 28th, 2020 Elly Milonas Lucas, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at age 87.
Elly was born on July 6th 1933 in the village of Manikia in Evia, Greece. She moved from Greece to the Bronx, NY in 1947 and eventually settled in Windham, NY where she resided for 49 years. On December 26th, 1955 Elly married Aristides Lucas (Lykos). The two owned and operated the Hamilton Motel in Windham, NY for 49 years. They raised three daughters, Joanne, Georgia, and Eleni.
Throughout her life, Elly was known for her compassionate spirit. As a mother, grandmother, and friend, Elly shared positivity and love with those around her through the form of cooking, storytelling, and kind gestures.
Her love and compassion for God and family led Elly to inspire those closest to her to pursue greatness, but most importantly, to do the right thing. She would inspire everyone she spoke with, and never left a bad impression. Elly loved the outdoors. The smell of fresh cut grass and oregano helped her find her inner peace, as they reminded her of home on the mountain. Her oregano fields bloomed purple during the summer months, which is fitting, considering that was her favorite color.
Elly was know to be as strong as the mountain she lived on. Her legacy of strength and love will live on for generations to come, through those she’s inspired. She will now be laid to rest on the same mountain she called home.
Elly was preceded in death by her husband Aristides, her father, John and her mother, Zaharoula. She is survived by her three children, Joanne, Georgia, and Eleni, as well as her grandchildren, Thomas, Constantine, Aristides, and James
