Obituary of Gerald S. Jaeger
Gerald Sidney Jaeger, “Jerry” passed away Monday morning, November 2, 2020 at his home in Prattsville NY after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 80 years young
Born in Conesville NY on July 16, 1940 to parents Charles and Beatrice Jaeger. He is survived by his long-time companion and wife Linda, his two sons, Gerald Jaeger Windham NY and Gary Jaeger, Manchester NH and their Mom Joan, daughter Tammy Wood, Middle Grove NY, brother Arnold Jaeger, sister in law Diana Prattsville NY, his mother Beatrice Merwin and sister Joyce Diamond Florida,. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren Tristen, Sophia, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Ryan and two daughters in laws, Sherri and Lisa Jaeger as well as several nieces and nephews and Linda’s daughter Roseanne and granddaughter Kaitlynn Rose.
Jerry grew up on the Jaeger farm in Little Westkill. At a young age he developed a great work ethic that served him well through his entire life- he was never idle. He enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobile racing, NASCAR and four wheeling with his many friends. His favorite past time in his latter years was golfing at Christmas Windham House where he was well known and loved by many fellow members. Many days you would find him on the course with Shasta his loyal dog riding happily along.
Jerry had a successful career with Price Chopper, Schenectady NY driving truck for 28 years retiring in 2002 Gerald proudly served as Fire Chief of Windham Hose Company #1 in the early 60’s for nearly 10 years. WHC members will be guarding Jerry’s casket from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will set off final tones at 7 pm in his honor.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday November 5th, 2020 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Decker’s Funeral Hall Windham NY. Friday November 6th 10:00 am Church services will be held at Prattsville United Methodist Church Prattsville NY followed by procession to Fairlawn Cemetery. Immediately following burial family and friends are invited for a gathering at Prattsville Community Hall for refreshments.
