Obituary of Richard Jordan
Richard C. Jordan (b. March 29, 1935) passed away on October 28, 2020 after a short illness surrounded by his family at home in Windham, NY. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, LoisAnne, 4 children, and 8 grandchildren who adoringly call him Pip.
Dick loved sailing and skiing with his family and friends. As a natural leader, he was a founding member and the first President of The Wintergreen Club, Windham, NY 1981– 1983, and Commodore of Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, Port Washington, NY 1992-1993. Dick was also a member of the New York Yacht Club.
Dick was a visionary and saw the potential of Windham Mountain where he was part owner from 2004-2019. His love for Windham and the surrounding community will live on in the hearts and minds of many. Dick’s business, Brainard Ridge, constructed many of the landmark properties on and around Windham Mountain, including the Adaptive Sports Foundation, the Porte Cochere to the base lodge at Windham Mountain, Wintergreen Club, and numerous handcrafted Timber Frame and Log Homes.
Dick was particularly proud and impressed by the purpose and work of both the Adaptive Sports Foundation and the Windham Foundation. A celebration of Dick Jordan’s life will be held in 2021 when it is safe to gather.
