Obituary of Aline M. Oakes
Aline Marie (Ducas) Oakes, 85, of Windham, passed away on August 13, 2020 in her home.
Aline was born in Edmundston, NB Canada to Joseph and Ida (Lebel) Ducas on February 20, 1935. She married Dennis Joseph Oakes in 1957 in Edmundston, NB Canada. Her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Westchester County, NY in 1963. She retired as a Nursing Assistant in 2000 and moved to Windham, NY. She was an active member of the French-American Club in Tarrytown, NY and St. Teresa parish Windham.
Aline enjoyed listening to live music and she and her husband were known for their dancing abilities. She also enjoyed crochet, shopping, word-search puzzles and playing cards, especially the French-Canadian game, Madame de pique.
Aline is preceded in death by her parents, husband and several siblings.
Aline was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her children; Lena (Joseph) Kappel, Denise Oakes, Raymond Donald (Laura) Oakes, Patrick Jimmy (Dorothy) Oakes, Rina (Charles) Starr, and Adam (Joyce) Oakes, sisters Janine Levasseur and Amanda Landry and brother Leo Ducas, grandchildren; Kristy (William) Tompkins, Kasey Kappel, Lindsey (Brandon Rule) Oakes, Joseph Kappel, Leona (Josh) Stone, Nikki Starr, Patrick Oakes, Elise (Adam) Labatore, Michael Oakes, Scott (Jennifer) Oakes, Rebecca Starr, Julia Oakes, Matthew Oakes, Carley (Tamarah) Balaz, Daniel Oakes, Andrew (Angelina) Gooley, and Erin Starr and great-grandchildren; Darwin, Willow, Michael, Evangeline, Edgar, Llewyn, Maven, Elora, Ezekiel, Tessa, Kira, Xavier, Dean, Andromeda, and Conor.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17 at 11 am at Decker Funeral Home with Mass at 1 pm at St. Teresa’s Church both in Windham, NY. Burial will be at a later date at St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Ossining, NY.
Donations in memoriam to Aline in lieu of flowers may be given to The American Heart Association.
