Obituary of Richard M. Brautigam

Guilderland- Mary Stuart Manning passed in her own home on September 17th 2015. Mary was born in Port Byron, New York, to Jessie Weaver Manning and Ralph Monroe Manning on February 22nd 1926. Mary graduated Port Byron High School, and then took on the position of a dedicated mother. Thirty years later, she worked a variety of jobs in order to support her family, before obtaining a steady job at General Electric. When she retired, Mary went on to work for Tawasentha Park, where she tended to the flower gardens. She devoted herself to the things she loved: reading, baking, tending to her garden, sewing and knitting. She adored opera music, but most of all, she loved her family and committed herself to them. Mary is survived by her sons, William (Karen) and Stuart (Nina), and her daughters, Suzanne, Priscilla (Robert), and Martha (Thumper). Mary is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her beloved Sophie. She was predeceased by her sister, Jane, and her daughter, Laurie. Mary Manning was a free spirit with a kindred heart. Known for her dramatic ways, which can be looked upon with fond memories, she was loved by all those whose lives she touched. She has left behind a legacy which will never be forgotten and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who hold her memories dear. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to GuilderHaven Inc or WMHT. A memorial celebration will be held October 11th, from noon – 4p.m. at Tawasentha Park.
