Obituary of Mary-Jo Clancy
Pattersonville- Mary-Jo Clancy, 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019. She was born on April 27, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Arthur and Josephine (nee DeBruyn) Wallace.
Mary-Jo attended St. Edmunds High School in Brooklyn. She was employed with the Schalmont School district for 20 years as a Teacher's Aide, retiring in 2015. She volunteered for several years at the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia, NY. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint and crocheting. She took frequent sailing trips to Maine, on the Schooner Mary Day. She spent many summers at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. She enjoyed fishing and camping with the family. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Mary-Jo married the love of her life on September 5, 1970, Andrew Clancy. Together they raised four children. Michael James (Gemma) Clancy of Schenectady, Patrick (Tina Marie) Clancy of Westmere, NY, Andrew (Mary) Clancy of Latham, NY and Matthew John (Heather) Clancy of Liberty, ME; she is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great grandson; her siblings, Nancy Brothers of Rahway, NJ, Eileen Pellegrini of Baltimore, MD, and Kathleen Wallace of San Francisco, CA and her sister-in-law Bridget Wallace of Warwick, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Thomas, John and James Wallace.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 4-7PM at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St, Schenectady, NY. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 10AM at St. Margaret Cortona Church, 1228 Main St, Rotterdam Junction, NY. Interment will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Schenectady, NY.
