Obituary of Harold Thomas Terry

Harold Thomas Terry, 82, of Windham, NY passed away on August 9, 2023, at Columbia Memorial Health in Hudson, NY after battling kidney and liver complications. 

Harold is survived by his wife, Joyce Terry; his children, Brian Terry and Debra Maynard; his son-in-law, Joseph Maynard; his grandchildren, Leslie Terry, David Maynard, Jason Maynard, and Christopher Maynard; his great grandchildren, Adelynne Maynard and Riley Maynard; and his sisters, Lorraine Gannon-Will of Marlboro, NY and Ethel Weller of Spindale, NC. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Terry; his mother, Madeleine (Phillips) Terry; his brother, Frederick Terry; and his sister, Deloris Tudico. 

Harold was born in Newburgh, NY on August 8, 1941. He attended Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, NY and graduated in 1960. He worked as a chip designer for IBM in East Fishkill, NY for 30 years before retirement. Harold first met his wife Joyce in February 1963. After a short courtship, they were married on April 28, 1963, and enjoyed over 60 joyous years of marriage. 

Harold’s family and friends will remember him as a kind man who enjoyed his quiet life in Windham. His stoic and quiet nature belied an intelligence and self-assuredness that those close to him respected and admired. He was a man who would do anything for his family, and words cannot properly convey how much he will be missed. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Harold at Decker Funeral Home in Windham, NY on Monday, August 28, 2023. Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at a future date to be determined.
