With gratitude for a life well lived, we remember Paul Schoepe, whose warmth and spirit touched everyone who knew him. Paul was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 27, 1941 to the late Hermann and Lydia Schoepe. He was the second oldest of five children. Paul grew up in Queens, NY and graduated from Jamaica High School. After High School, he took college courses at St. John’s University while working at Western Electric. 

Paul became a New York State Trooper, and served for several years before joining the FDNY, where he worked most of his career, eventually rising to Lieutenant. While working at the FDNY, a co-worker introduced him to the love of his life, Mary. They went on a blind date, and it was love at first sight. They married in October of 1980, and lived on a 52 acre farm (which was always his dream), with beautiful views, that Paul bought in 1972 in Ashland, NY. 

The second best thing that happened to Paul was on December 25, 1988, when his son, Christopher Paul was born. Paul was a loving and dedicated father, taking Chris and his friends up to the all-star baseball academy. He loved going up and down the east coast in his RV to watch Chris play baseball, and traveling to Disney with his family. He believed that the most important thing in life was his family.

Paul loved farming, and loved nothing more than mowing the lawn to perfection making it look like a golf course. He loved skiing with Chris, fixing cars, eating, bulldozing the woods around the house, cleaning the pond, hiking, and going around the country in his RV. Paul was a trustworthy and loyal friend, and he could be counted on for anything. Whatever you needed, Paul was there. Everyone that knew him loved him, and he will be sorely missed.

Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sister in law Dolores. 

In addition to his wife of 45 years, survivors include his son Chris (Tara); his siblings Dieter, Charlotte, Susan, and Peter, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received from 5:00 pm-7:00pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Decker Funeral Home 5312 NY-23, in Windham, NY. 

A Funeral Service will be offered  at 5:00 PM at Decker Funeral Home.Services will be officiated by Monsignor O'Connor.
