Michael Steven Kahn Obituary
Michael Kahn, age 86, of Windham passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the only child of the late Bess and Irving Khan. Michael graduated with a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the City of New York in 1961. He pursued an esteemed 30-year teaching career as a professor in the Technology Department at the New York City College of Technology. During his career, he wrote two Electronical engineering textbooks.
He met his loving wife Amy in 1975, and they had a son Dan. In 1994, Michael retired and the family moved full-time to Maple Crest, New York where they had a summer home. Mike enjoyed walking and biking in the tranquility of the Catskill Mountains as well as hiking with the Mountaintop Historical Society.
Michael was a 50-year dedicated practitioner of Shorei- Kan Karate, achieving 4 levels of black belt. The movie, The Karate Kid, was based on his martial arts school.
He was a history and movie buff, easily able to recite lines from many films that he saw repeatedly and could tell you minute details of world history.
Michael loved ice cream, Greek yogurt, lollipops, and beer; but hated any form of eggs -couldn't be in the same room as an egg! He had a wonderful sense of humor.
Michael is survived by Amy, his beloved wife of 50 years, a son Dan (wife Nora), 2 wonderful grandchildren Fiona and Ella, and cherished friends of long duration.
