Obituary of William D. Allen

William D. “Billy” Allen, 73, of Hensonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 29, 1952, in Rockville Centre, the son of the late Walter and Dolores (MacKenzie) Allen.

Billy graduated from Windham-Ashland-Jewett High School and worked for many years as an auto mechanic at Thorpe’s GMC, where his skill and dedication earned him great respect. A devoted volunteer firefighter with the Hensonville Hose Co., Billy dedicated his time and energy to helping others and serving his community.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wildlife, working on cars, sitting on the porch, and lending a hand wherever it was needed.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his brother, Walter Jr. (Debbie); his daughters, Patti Allen, Cindi Rizzitello, and Carrie Allen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

Billy’s kindness, steady presence, and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the cancer research organization of the donor’s choice or to the Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene Counties. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring, honoring Billy’s love of warm weather.
