Obituary of Kay Louise Mead
Kay Louise Mead, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 80.
She was born in Arkville, NY, on May 1, 1945, to the late William Germond and Kathryn Rowe, and grew up in Phoenicia before building a life in Lexington, NY.
Kay married Theodore Mead Jr. on April 19, 1964, and they shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in November 2021. Together, they raised two children, Michael Mead and Pamela Mead, and created a beautiful home filled with love.
Known for her love of reading, especially Stephen King novels, Kay also had a green thumb and a talent for making her flowers bloom with beauty each spring and summer. In the last few years, she found joy in walking into town to run small errands, from visiting the post office to stopping by the local grocery store.
She is survived by her son, Michael Mead (Virginia); her grandchildren, Katherine Baxter (Jeremy), Amanda Harrington, Matthew Cline (Desi), Samantha O’Neill, and Richard Mead; and several great-grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Mead, as well as her parents and husband.
