Obituary of Jean D. Casazza
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean D. Casazza, affectionately known as Jeanie, on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Born on May 1, 1935, in England to the late Harold and Elsie Dent, Jean lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a spirit of unwavering support for her family.
Jean's journey began in England, where she met and married her beloved husband, Kenneth, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Together, they embarked on a new chapter, moving to Staten Island, NY, and raising their family.
Jean dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her children, Debra, Wayne, and David. Her role as a stay-at-home mom, grandma, and great-grandma was her greatest joy and accomplishment. Beyond her role as a homemaker, Jean was a pillar of strength and support to her husband in their entrepreneurial endeavors. From managing finances to co-owning and running their businesses on the mountaintop, she was an indispensable partner. Together, they created a thriving campground, delivered pizzas, managed a travel agency, and established a modular home business. Their partnership was a testament to their love and dedication to one another.
Jean found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her coffee and cake, and her famous eggplant parmesan, Grandma breakfasts, and whole-family dinners brought her loved ones together. Weekly lunches and clearance rack shopping trips with her sister Vicky (Valerie) were treasured moments.
Jean loved to watch figure skating, HGTV, and Lifetime movies. She enjoyed taking many walks and watch the wildlife around her home.
In addition to her parents Jean was predeceased by her sisters Pam Henstone and Valerie Lilland, her devoted husband Kenneth Casazza, her three children, Debra LaRosa, Wayne Casazza, and David Casazza, and many pets she so lovingly cared for.
Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her brother Harry Dent, grandchildren Michelle Casazza, Wayne Casazza, Joseph Casazza, Michael Casazza (Chelsea), great-grandchildren Valerie Petire and Trenton Petrie, and many nieces and nephews both in the United States and England.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society at www.cghs.org. in Jean's memory. Her love for animals was boundless, and she found solace in caring for stray cats and dogs and watching the wildlife in the peaceful mountains she called home.
Jean's legacy of love, devotion, and unwavering support will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
