Dorothy (Despina) Psomiades

October 1, 1935 – March 16, 2025

Dorothy Psomiades (nee Misail), a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother fell asleep in the Lord on March 16, 2025 at the age of 89.  Born October 1, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Sam and Anna Misail.  Dorothy dedicated her life to her faith, her family and her career.

Dorothy’s career began in banking.  After raising her children she returned to the workforce as Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Scholastic Magazines, eventually taking on the role of Director of Scholastic Writing Awards.  In her later years, she volunteered at the Loudoun Hospital in Virginia.  Dorothy’s greatest pleasures were spending time with family and friends and staying actively involved in her Windham, NY Greek church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband John and is survived by her children Alexis Cleveland (Edward) and Stephen (Dorothy Post), her grandchildren Meredith Cleveland (Chris), Matthew (Ariane), Jonathan and Kelly.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Quinn, Maeve and Avery.

Dorothy’s visiting hours will take place at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, 4752 State Route 23 in Windham, NY on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, followed by her funeral at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow.
