Obituary of Lorraine F. Spanhake
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine France Spanhake, affectionately known as Rosie, of Haines Falls, NY. Lorraine passed away peacefully at Westchester Medical Center on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born on December 4th, 1952, Lorraine entered this world as one of seven children to the late Murray and Dorothy Cable. Though her formal education journey led her through many schools, it was at Hunter Tannersville School where she forged enduring friendships that remained a cherished part of her life.
Lorraine chose a different path than graduation, embarking on the journey of marriage with George Spanhake Jr., who sadly predeceased her in 1988 at the young age of 37. In 1978, she returned to her beloved hometown to be closer to family. There, she lovingly raised her three daughters and found a welcoming community at Warm's Restaurant in Tannersville, NY, where she earned the endearing nickname "Rosie."
Around 1981, she found love again with Walter Seifert, her devoted life partner of 43 years, who passed away in May of 2024. While Lorraine faced hardships throughout her life, she built a life filled with love and laughter, and was defined by resilience and love.
She cherished memories of vacations in Florida with her daughters during their younger years. Later in life, she found joy in cruises with family and friends and the excitement of spending time together at casinos.
Lorraine is predeceased by her sisters Betty and Bernice, her brother Virgil (Bucky), her brother-in-law John, and her parents.
She is survived by her loving daughters Jennifer Parquez, Tanya (Scott) Rynard, and Alicia Spanhake, and her stepchildren Patty, Walter, and Paul Seifert. She also leaves behind her sisters Dora Bubach, Arlene (Joe) Ferraioli, and Elaine (Kenny) Rockefeller, as well as many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Lorraine touched countless hearts in her 72 years. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
