
Obituary of Paul N. Tompkins
Paul Tompkins, Jr., 84, of Ashland, NY, passed away at his home on February 1, 2025. Paul was born on August 8, 1940, a son of Paul Tompkins, Sr. and Gertrude (Spaulding) Tompkins. He was one of 14 children. He enlisted in the Army when he was 17 and served a two year term in Germany 1963-1965. Paul worked for NYS Department of Transportation for 29 years, retiring in 2001.
Paul married Ruth (Raeder) (Roe) Tompkins on November 19, 1983, and became the Dad he didn't have to be to Linda (Allen) Cunningham, Joan (John) Albert and Jane (John) Lane; Grandpa to Amy Cunningham, Jessica (John) Young, Eric (Jenny) Lane, Ashley (Robert) Gunther, Thomas Albert, Janelle (Tyler) Binder, Daniel Lane and David Lane; and Great Grandpa to Adilyn Young, Penelope Lane, Jonathan Binder, Nolan Young, Eloise Gunther, Julia Binder, Francis Lane and Levi Gunther.
Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth, his parents, ten of his siblings, three brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Joyce Terry, Glenda Montana, Gary (Joanne) Tompkins; sisters-in-law, Josephine Tompkins, Dorothy Raeder and Susan Raeder; and several nieces and nephews.
